Surveying a full fibre future
GoReport is a software business based in Belfast in the property technology (proptech) sector providing solutions for commercial and residential surveying professionals.
Their surveying solution captures on-site data electronically on handheld devices and covers the full range of building surveying disciplines using any combination of text, dictation, photographs – complete with annotations, sketches and even handwriting.
As a young and fast-growing tech business employing 15 people, Operations and Finance Director Marv van Niekerk knew that the standard shared line broadband connection delivering a download speed of 5 Megabits per second (Mbps) was beginning to affect their ability to grow. With a piece of real-time software at the heart of their service, the ability to share data instantly with customers was essential.
Working with their broadband provider, High Performance Networks, they were eligible to apply for a Gigabit Broadband Voucher to offset the cost of installing a full fibre connection to their business increasing their download and upload speeds to 100 Mbps.
The GoReport team felt the difference immediately; all data storage is offsite but instantly accessible; they have employed VOIP telephony to ensure call quality and the business has become infinitely scalable with customers now based in Australia and New Zealand as well as the UK. At the same time, monthly costs remain at a very reasonable level for the benefits the company is receiving.
Marv said: “Our connection speeds are so good that we can have multiple web-based training sessions and product demonstrations without any slowdown of the network. It allows us to offer flexible employment conditions and full fibre means we can deliver our global solution from right here in Belfast.”
